Top Hybrid and Electric Cars for 2021

The entire automotive world is slowly making the move away from conventional fuel-powered vehicles. It’s only a matter of time until every car on the road is a hybrid or a fully-electric vehicle. If you’re considering making the switch, you now have options across body types and budgets. If you’re worried that an EV might be too drastic a switch, consider getting a hybrid. And if you’re looking for a crossover or SUV, the most popular body types today, take a look at the following options.

Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

Okay, this isn’t a crossover, but it is the only minivan that’s available as a plug-in hybrid. It offers a pure electric driving range of up to 32 miles, so if your commute, including the kids’ drop-off, is under that, then you may never need to stop for gas. It has a range of 488 miles on gas alone, and in hybrid mode, it can go up to 520 miles. Great for family road-trips too, then.

Jaguar I-PACE

Jaguar’s first all-electric vehicle is a stunner. It’s excellent to drive thanks to 512 lb-ft of torque, and 394hp from two electric motors and near-perfect weight distribution, and its 234-mile range. It’s luxurious and comfortable and packed with technology and safety systems. It’s practical too, with a lot of space for passengers and cargo. And like all Jaguars, it’s quite a looker.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

Mitsubishi claims that this plug-in hybrid will return up to 74 mpg. It’ll be amazing even if the actual mileage is anywhere close to that number. This hybrid crossover also has 4×4 capabilities that combine electric and gas power for some light off-roading. It has a pure electric range of 22 miles and up to 310 miles in hybrid mode.

Tesla Model Y Performance

This all-electric small luxury SUV has a lot in common with the excellent Model 3, most notably its interiors and electric powertrain. It’ll do up to 291 miles on a full charge, offers stunning acceleration, roomy seating for front and rear passengers, a panoramic glass roof, 15-inch touchscreen, excellent safety features, and full self-driving capability, 21-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, and brakes.
